One of the biggest challenges in the world of aquaria is what is called "reefkeeping". While the majority of our planet is covered with saltwater, there is a percentage of a percentage of special areas where amazing creatures exist. These are coral reefs. A slightly-crazy breed of aquarium enthusists are dedicated to creating what are called "reef tanks", maintaining very delicate ecosystems and propogating corals and other rare marine life. This site is dedicated to my appreciation of this combination of science and art.

Here is a wide shot of my tank room. In addition to the 55g, I have 2 10g tanks set up. The upper one is a
new plenum with DSB setup. I will be using it to incubate pods and other critters - nothing aggressive. The
lower tank is my Q-tank. Up on top of the shelf to the left you'll see my "homebrew" Calcium Hydroxide drip
rig, which consists of a 7 gallon boat gasoline tank, rigged with some 1/4" adapters running to a hospital
enteral dosing pump that I have regulating the Kalk drip. The blue tank on the right is my spare RO/DI water
that I use to manually top off the tanks.
This is my newest SPS acquisition. This particular piece of coral has to be the most flourescent I've ever
seen. There's also a tiny crab living within.
This is my Pearly Jawfish hiding in a rather elaborate hole he made by moving half the tank around. I don't recommend having him in a plenum system because he has an amazing ability to rearrange the substrate.
This is a rare glimpse of a sphegetti worm that would normally be buried in the substrate. These things are
all through my tank.
A nice side view of the tank.
My spotted mushroom.
